"Pilates
is the most superior form of physical fitness techniques I
have found to compliment my classical ballet training. However,
one doesn't need to be a dancer to enjoy the benefits of Pilates
technique. Not only does Pilates tone and strengthen the body,
it also revitalises and energises the mind.
Abi
and all the instructors at Prescriptive Fitness, are of the
highest standard, their personal attention to each individuals
needs guaranteeing remarkable results."

I
have been going to Pilates classes for three years - prior to
this I had not done any exercise other than regular walking
for 20 years following a serious back injury. Doing Pilates
gave me confidence to excerise again and it has strengthened
and re-energized me. I enjoy the small classes and personal
attention and recommend it as a way to stay in shape without
stressing the body - great after a day at work. I see it as
a whole of life exercise that is good for young and old(er).

I’ve
tried the gym off and on for years for back and neck problems
but all that sweating, testosterone and highly developed bodies
just made me feel inadequate. Pilates has released my back
and neck tension and the encouraging, supporting atmosphere
of the studio makes it a joy as well as a challenge. I have
noticed so much difference and can imagine committing to Pilates
for life.

Having
a herniated disc in my neck, I was looking for a form of exercise
which was sympathetic to my condition, yet would tone and
strengthen my body and restore it’s flexibility. I have found
exactly that by doing Pilates at Prescriptive Fitness. The
competent and friendly staff there have shown me how to actually
achieve my goals. In less than three months I’ve returned
to the shape I had in my early 20’s and experienced renewed
confidence in my body. I have found Pilates a fantastic way
to relieve stress and muscle tension which can aggravate spinal
injuries. I now thoroughly recommend Pilates at Prescriptive
Fitness to my clients.

Daily
pain relief medication and interrupted sleep had become routine
to me. Standing was difficult, sitting even worse and the
thought of actually exercising was somehow light years away.
My energy levels were bad and life was beginning to be an
ordeal I was not sure I could go on with!
My
doctor suggested Pilates and with some reluctance I gave it
a go. When you have been in chronic pain for some time there
is a real fear of making things worse. After one session I
came away feeling better, but still nervous. After my second
session, I went home and slept through the night! I awoke
feeling something profound had started and that change was
indeed possible. After a few more sessions the pain down my
legs lessened almost completely and the pain in my lower back
was greatly improved. Not only that, my body felt freer, looser
and my stomach was already flatter!
Naturally
I continued on, (as well as raving to all my friends about
it) and after three months I am overjoyed with the results.
My chronic pain has gone. I still get episodes of pain but
they are much milder and with less duration. (And when pain
does hit me, I am now armed with the prescribed exercises
for MY body to take the pain away.) I am completely off medication.
I stand straighter, look taller, feel lighter and have much
more energy.
I
had no idea PILATES could do so much for my body shape though.
I’ve lost three inches off my waist, my legs are firm, I have
a bottom that is actually starting to defy gravity and even
my bust looks firmer. The extra strength in my body has given
me the freedom to move more and I’m also able to walk for
25 minutes, three times a week, which has helped me burn up
even more fat! Basically, I’m thrilled!

I
started Pilates 6 months ago to change the shape of my body.
The gym was really disillusioned me as I was working out really
hard, only finding that I was getting bigger. I heard that
ballet dancers do Pilates as it lengthens and tones the muscles
and basically, I wanted to look like them! The results have
been amazing. My thighs seemed to have slipped away. They
are thinner, more streched and feel so much lighter. My stomach
looks the flattest it’s ever been and my bottom has lifted
and firmed so much that I swear my legs look two inches longer.
Everyone comments on my body and asks me what I am doing and
the other week, someone asked me if I was a dancer! Pilates
is the best.
